Dr Vinod Scaria spoke at the Indo US workshop on Human Diversity and Health Diversity at the CSIR Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology Hyderabad on "Pharmacogenomic Divsesity - from Population Genomes to Individualised Treatments"
The talk discussed population scale studies on Malaysian and Qatar Genomes and how distinct population scale differences could be contributed by population stratification.
With the example of aggregated genome datasets for South Asian populations, he explained how population scale datasets could provide unique insights into the design and development of cost effective pharmacogenomic tests for 5 Fluorouracil as well as Succinylcholine apnea , a condition prevalent in the Chettiar communities in South India.
The workshop was organised by CSIR CCMB along with the IUSSTF
